Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:  
Tolles Career and Technical Center is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications and Marketing Specialist to lead the district’s communication efforts and enhance its public image. This individual will manage digital and print communications, maintain a consistent brand identity, and collaborate across departments to showcase Tolles’ programs, culture, and student success. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in digital media, content creation, and public relations, with a passion for storytelling in an educational environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and update the district website with accurate, timely, and branded content.
  • Manage official Tolles social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, etc.) to promote programs, events, and achievements.
  • Develop consistent messaging and visual branding across all communications channels.
  • Design and distribute newsletters, press releases, videos, and promotional materials.
  • Capture and produce high-quality photo and video content for internal and external use.
  • Partner with the district’s career tech programs (e.g., art, design, video/broadcasting) to create student-driven content.
  • Collaborate with the Student Recruiting and Admissions Specialist to align messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Track engagement metrics across platforms and adapt strategies for greater reach and impact.
  • Respond to media inquiries and support external relations with professionalism.
  • Ensure all public-facing content complies with district policies and state regulations.

 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, digital marketing, or media/public relations.
  • Proficiency with social media management, website content systems (e.g., WordPress), and design/editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills for both digital and print materials.
  • Familiarity with educational or nonprofit communication is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for events and content creation.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
